Our Story

NHEST

Derivative of the word nest; someone's home, someones “snug retreat”

For Ruchi Zaveri, NHEST marks the start of her journey into a new world, with her loved ones by her side.

After graduating from NIFT in 2017 as a jewellery designer, Ruchi started working as the same, for Eesha Zaveri Jewelry. While exploring the various possibilities in the world of jewelry, Ruchi found her passion for product designing.

Ruchi’s mother was an avid art collector and admirer; brass artefacts, being one of her favourites. Inspired by her mothers ardour for brass artefacts and her own love for designing, the journey of NHEST began.

Through NHEST, we wish to work with various artisans from India, starting with Gujarat, and explore each craft in a different way. Our country is rich in beautiful art forms and crafts, and at NHEST, we aim to work with as many as we can, to keep these art forms alive.

It is heartbreaking to see Indian art being replicated by machines, and our artisans fighting hard to make a living. Our advances in technology have been remarkable, but at the same time, we are also losing a bit of our heritage. By purchasing a handmade product, you support our hardworking craftsmen and our beautiful Indian crafts.

The crafts/art forms we work with right now, are: Brass stamping and Wood carving.
